Paint Touch Up

Traditional Repair Options
In the past, most bumper repair options offered either a complete removal of the existing bumper or a do-it-yourself touch-up paint kit that left telltale marks of a scrape or scratch. Neither of these options is ideal for individuals seeking to maintain their cars without breaking the bank. Considering typical costs of $600 to $1,000 for a new bumper and matching paint, each scratch can quickly become too expensive to repair. Do-it-yourself auto paint kits offer a more inexpensive solution, but one that ultimately lowers the value of your car.

Paint Touch Up and Plastic Bumper Repair
Fortunately, today's car, truck, and SUV owners have the option of plastic bumper repair, which offers a relatively inexpensive alternative to bumper replacement. Instead of removing the bumper and installing a new one, plastic bumper repair relies on carefully matched auto paint and other materials to give the appearance that your car has never been touched.
Making the Right Choice
Although plastic bumper repair is an ideal choice for car owners facing scratches and scrapes of all sizes, it is important to take the time to find a reputable company to do the work. Companies that fail to offer a quality guarantee or who refuse to offer estimates for their work might not be the most reliable source of bumper repair.
The good news is if you live in Silicon Valley or the Bay Area, you have an excellent mobile service available through Dings Plus. With proven experience and trained professionals, you'll soon have your car looking like new again - and at a fraction of the cost of an entirely new bumper.

The Right Car Paint

Choosing a paint color for your automobile is much more then personal preference. There are some other things that should be taken into account. Some of these things include the type of car that you have, the cost, how a paint color affects your resale value and functionality. We will talk a little bit about each of these things below.
It is important to note that just because you like a color doesn't mean that it will look good on your type of car. Some colors just don’t look good on certain types of cars. Now, of course, a lot of this is personal opinion, but it would you hard to imagine a BMW in a bright yellow color, it just wouldn’t look good. Another thing to consider is cost. You may be able to secure a certain brand of base coat for around between $200 and $400 a gallon. Some colors are going to be a lot more expensive, and this includes custom and not custom colors. What you will want to do it is choose a color and then visit either an auto shop or paint store and see what your options are in terms of cost, color, partners and sealers
.
Resale value is also a very important part of choosing a paint color for your car. If you want to have the best chance of being able to sell your car down the line, it is very important that you don't go with loud or odd colors that most people won’t appreciate. So if you're considering re-selling your car down the line, be sure that you don't get trendy with car colors. This will increase your chances that your car will be easy to sell. Go with colors that are timeless.
There are also functional reasons to decide on a certain color. For example, you may want to hide or soften body lines on the car. You may also want a car that doesn't show dirt easily. Wanting your car to look larger or smaller may also determine what color of car you will choose. And while individuals who are car enthusiasts, may consider function more than simply liking a particular color, it should be important to everyone.
So when they are considering purchasing paint for their car, don't simply go with “well, I like this color.” You should consider the cost of a particular color, the function of car, the type of car that you have, which may include make, model and body type. You also want to think carefully about how choosing a certain color will affect the resale value of your car. Remember to stay away from trendy colors because they will make it more difficult to resale your car later on. You will not want to have to pay for a new paint job on a car that you are looking to sale and no longer want. Therefore, take some time and put a little thought into the color you want your car painted. What may seem cool and trendy today could be a source of stress when you need to sale it or trade it in, a few years down the line.

Painting Your Car

Painting autos is a funny and interesting procedure to do. If you have more than one vehicle, then painting autos becomes more interesting. Painting autos is not at difficult. In fact, it is so easy that even kids may use their skills and have fun while painting autos.
You Need To Have:
1. A compressor2. Paint3. Spray gun4. Sandpaper5. Car port6. Paint booth
You may perform the painting procedure of a vehicle in a garage, a paint booth or on the driveway as per your convenience.
Fundamentals Of Painting Autos:
1. The first thing that you need to do before you start to paint the vehicle is washing the vehicle properly with soap water. This helps in getting rid of bird droppings, road salts and other things, which are not visible. The surface of the vehicle has to be clean before you start painting your vehicle.
2. Use grease, wax remover along with paper towels to get rid of the dust from your auto. Do not use cloth, as it is not fireproof. House paint or liquid charcoal helps in getting rid of crayon marks, because crayons are made of wax.
3. After you get rid of grease and wax, you may scrub the vehicle with sandpaper, if you want to give it a dull look.
4. Remove the frame of the vehicle. This step is not very important.
5. The vehicle has to be dry before you start painting. Keep the painting floor dry. In case of humidity, the paint may stick to the spray gun before it touches the vehicle, so be careful while painting autos. Hence, keep the place and the vehicle dry or else you will have lots of dirt on your vehicle, by the time the painting is done.
6. After you finish painting on one side, put a plastic windscreen on it. This prevents dust from entering the paint on the vehicle. The plastic sheet will also help to keep away the wind. It is always a good idea to paint one side first and then move on to paint the other side. Paint the automobile in an open space other than painting it on a driveway, as it has flies and mites that may spoil the painting.
7. Remember to remove or cover the parts of the vehicle you do not wish to paint. This part is very unexciting. However, the result depends completely on how you manage all these processes.
8. Use car paints that contain urethane, as they dry instantly. Such paints are available at premium or selective auto paint stores.
9. After the application of primer, minimally apply a thin coat of black enamel. It works best, if you spray the enamel with the help of a can.
10. Once black enamel dries off, remove it, apply base color, and cover the parts that require painting. Leave it for 15 minutes. Wait for sometime, while painting between two color coats. Finally, urethane paint is very good, as it sticks to the vehicle quickly.

Auto Body Repair Or Just Get a New Car?

It is hard to not be able to think of not knowing anyone who at one point needed auto body repair. That would not surprise you at all since there were 220 million vehicles on U.S. roads in 2003, a figure that had been growing steadily at approximately 5% per year. We can use this figure to project that there will be more than 275 million vehicles on the road in 2008. More vehicles means a larger market, and an increased number of minor accidents as streets and parking lots become more crowded. So, when so many people get left in the situation of needing auto body repair, the thought of just buying a new car comes across their thoughts. Yes, it is hard to find a good auto body specialist and yes it is going to cost you some money. However, it is beneficial to fix your existing car.

So what are some reason why someone would need or want auto body repair? Or may simply consider buying a new car?
• Prevent corrosion • Reflects on personal image • Lease end responsibilities • Inspires safer driving • Prevent police stop for damaged vehicle • Prevent spouse awareness of accident
Here are some things to consider before making your decision.
Buying a new car can be an exciting thing! However, once the excitement wears off you still have to make those high car payments for at least four to five years. With our economy not doing so well and many people losing their jobs or taking pay cuts, who is to say that you are safe to commit to a four to five year agreement? Not saying this is true for everyone, just that it is something to consider. Also many people may want to make a life decision such as retirement, a leave of absence from work, or deciding to go back to school. However with a car payment amongst their other monthly bills most would not be able to afford doing that. So this is a decision that requires a lot of consideration.
So, instead of just buying a new car, you should consider auto body repair for your vehicle. Auto body repair is where the existing metal panels on your car are repaired, rather than just buying a totally new panel. Many dealerships and collision centers may only offer replacement and not repair. It is takes a knowledgeable and skilled mechanic to perform work like this. So when choosing an auto body repair shop, you should carefully choose one. This will cost you some money, however not nearly as much as buying a new car would. Also some auto body shops will take most car insurances, and may even help you work out the details with them. This is not only an option for those who are trying to save money, but also for those who simply already like their car!
